Day 26

Sometimess we need time off from the GMAT and that's exactly what I did today. It was a lazy day for me and NO study. However, since it is neccesary to spend atleast 10 minutes a day with the GMAT books, I did a review of a couple of chapters of the NP guide. Tommorow's target will be to finish the NP guide and also finish the rest of the PS problems from the Quant book. Once this is done, I can start to review Critical Reasoning techniques which I'm already forgetting and there's a month to my test.

Day 27

Today I started with a re-review of the MGMAT NP guide. This book has a lot of small tips and tricks to help us immensely on the exam. I think I should be done with the review of this book in a couple of days. also, I completed all the SC questions in the Verbal OG review book. Wow,feels good. I have started to recognize a pattern that the GMAT tests with questions and wrong answers. I am going to continue with NP review tommorow too.

With this the DS questions from this book will be completed. In addition, I went through 20 SC and 30 PS questions. Enough for the day, will continue with problems tommorow.

Day 30

Today I reviewed the SC concepts that I had done yesterday. This was just to make sure that I don't forget anything. Time to start with some OG questions for SC. I'm already doing stuff from the OG Quant book and will still need about a week to complete it. I solved 30 questions from the OG Verbal book today and got 50% wrong. Grrr..., feel like banging my head. The plus side is I reviewd my wrong answers with the help of the book and doscovered that the OG explanations are simply superb! Infact, for those of you who are short on prep time could go through the OG alone for SC and note all the grammar concepts/idioms tested. This itself would be a good study plan for the SC part of the test.

Day 31

I spent the President's day with the GMAT ,haha. I reviewed the MGMAT SC correction book. This took me two days, yesterday and today. I seemed to pick up a lot of 'new' stuff on GMAT SC rules; I hope I can put it to use when the time actually comes for it ;-).
I also solved 30 PS questions from the OG Quant book.
Ok, not bad for today! Off to bed now.

Day 32

Today, I took a MGMAT CAT and scored a 590(42,31).CryCry. My verbal score seems to have improved. Not sure what happened to the Quant though. What happened in the Quant section was, the test was throwing EXTREMELY strange topics and unheard of questions. I still don't know if I should take the Quant score as a basis for my further prep. I need to do some research on the Quant qestion types that I faced, I wonder if this a marketing strategy for MGMAT. The Verbal section was ok except for the CR's,which were hard. I think I'm done for today and will use the rest of the day to review the CAT answers and make a plan for the forthcoming week.

Day 33

Today I spent some time practicing some Quant questions from the OG Quant(green book). I completed the first 30 Ques in PS in hardly 30 minutes. My opinion - the first few questions are way too easy, better ignored. This was followed by 30 DS questions from the same book. I also reviewed a few topics in Sentence Correction such as S-V agreement, Pronouns and modifiers.

Day 34

Today's target is completed with Part 3 of the SC Grail book and the next 3 chapters of the MGMAT Geometry book. I have a tip here for those of you who find it hard to retain the MGMAT materials in your head - try using index cards and write out whatever you find hard/understandable so that you could review this over and over again until it is drilled in your head. It is around 8 PM right now and If there seems some extra time after dinner, I will start reviewing the MGMAT SC book. Upto this point, I have solved only a part of the Official Guide problems and it is time that I tackle each and every problem. It is a long week end here this week in the United States and I'm going to be dating my GMAT books(sob, sob).

Day 35

I am done with today's schedule. The SC GRAIL book was pretty concise and well-structured. I am yet to finish one part of it though. I also started review from the MGMAT Geometry Book.

Here's some thing new and exciting that I tried today : I started making flash cards. This might sound an old or boring idea to some but, for a person like me who has never used index cards in her life, I enjoyed making my flask cards. This is what I mean, for those of you who have never heard of them. I used a simple notebook to make flashcards/notes but realized that it turned pretty messy because When I re-visited some topics/sections and if I had to note a few new things then my entire notes set gets unorganized. This way, the Index cards are Awesome.

Today, it was 3 hours of study :
  • I completed Part 1 and Part 2 of SC GRAIL.
  • I completed 2 Chapters of the MGMAT Geometry book

GMAT fever is on ......

The countdown to my G-day begins!

I have been off GMAT for almost a week now. I decided to take a break as I had decreased my productivity over the last few days. I really needed to recharge before attempting to Prep again. After having completed review of the concepts tested on the GMAT, I'm going to go into more detailed/serious prep now. Also, I will post a regular schedule from now on as my plans will be dynamic and more dependent on days rather than weeks.

The weeks forward

Today is Valentine's day and I am studying away. Got a beautiful gift from my husband yesterday. He is not the to go around buying gifts but he did it for me this year. How cute!

Ok, so back to GMAT. I need to use the next 5 weeks to strengthen my weaknesses and clearly Verbal is a big monster for me.My last test was a Q 43/44 and V 30.I shall devote the next 2 weeks toward CR/SC and also slip in a little of Quant just to keep my mind sharp.I will review CR from this book and also use the powerscore CR bible. The latter is an extremely detailed book to attack CR.
I just purchased the Aristotle SC PDF and this books looks very promising. I will review this book alongside CR and make some notes too.

CAT 3 and 4

Finally, done with one round of my prep, yay! I took two CATs this week, one on Tuesday afternoon and the other one today. My score was 590 and 620 respectively. The first test was a MGMAT CAT and the second one was a GMAT Prep test. I realized that my Quant score ranges from 40 to 44 and my verbal score is stuck at an average of 30 points.Damn! Ofcourse, the good news is that I have improved tremendously in the Reading Comprehension area, a major obstacle for non-native English speakers like me. The GMAT prep test review showed that my SC skills need most polishing and CR needs some work too.

Assuming that I am at a 600 level now, I have so much to catch up to cross that coveted 7## barrier. Wish me luck guys! The GMAT is all over me and I am enjoying it.

Week 6

The past week was hectic, both, in terms of GMAT prep as well as social life. I had a hard time with GMAT guide that I followed for this last week. It had difficult concepts to deal with such as Work related problems, Probability, Combinatorics, Statistics. I have not yet mastered these concepts and this book definitely needs to be visited again. As usual, I did a couple of Chapters in SC and a few RC passages for practice.

The target for this week is to complete review of the next MGMAT Quant Guide, FDP.Alongside this, I will complete 1 chapter of the MGMAT SC guide too.

I just realized that my GMAT date is fast approaching, so will need to re-do all my study in the past few weeks so that I don't forget the things that I studied a few weeks back. Also, I need to complete the MGMAT SC and CR books. I plan to do this over a continuos stretch instead of breaking it up into parts otherwise the SC and CR strategies seem to go on top of my head.
